Description
Wisteria (Hygrophila Difformis) | Potted
Hygrophila Difformis, also known as Water Wisteria or Synnema Triflorum, originates from India and Thailand. It produces finely branched leaves that have a delicate appearance and are unusually and irregularly shaped. Under good conditions, Wisteria will grow fast and the plant is prized in the aquarium hobby for its ability to quickly absorb excess nutrients from the water column, keeping your aquarium clean of pollutants and tank inhabitants healthy.
Care & Maintenance
This unusual aquarium plant's leaf shape is highly influenced by aquarium water temperature and lighting. At lower temperatures, the plant will produce smaller and thicker leaves but at higher temperatures, the leaves will grow larger and more divided. In addition at lower intensity lighting, the plant's lower leaves may drop off and the spacing between the leaves will increase. At higher intensity lighting, the plant will appear more compact.
- Minimum Lighting Required: Medium
- Temperature Range: 71-86°F
- Tank Placement: Background
Hygrophila Difformis must be provided with adequate space to thrive. It looks best when planted in well-spaced groups of four to six stems. The plant can be propagated from cuttings or by side shoots.
Wisteria is also available as bare-root plants.
