Rotala Macrandra, commonly known as Giant Rotala or Red Rotala, is a popular plant in the aquarium hobby. It is native to Southeast Asia, including countries like India, Thailand, and Malaysia. It is a visually striking plant and is highly sought after by aquarium hobbyists. It produces delicate-looking oval leaves. The coloration of the leaves depends on several factors. They will turn vibrant red or pinkish under strong light and will be olive-green under moderate light.

Care Guide For Rotala Macrandra

Rotala Macrandra will grow well under varied aquarium conditions. Its growth of rate will be slower under moderate light and faster when exposed to more intense light. If red coloration is desired, Rotala Macrandra should be grown under strong light and provided with supplemental liquid plant fertilizers. The plant will also benefit from iron fertilization.

With proper care and favorable conditions, Rotala Macrandra will grow fast. It is best suited for midground or background areas of the aquarium.
