Description
Red Flame Sword (Echinodorus sp. Red Flame) | Potted
Red Flame Sword is an attractive variant of the Sword plant species. With its large, oval, red-dappled leaves growing on sturdy stems, Red Flame Sword lives up to its name. It is guaranteed to provide a strikingly beatufiful focal point in any aquarium.
Care & Maintenance for Red Flame Sword
If grown under ideal conditions and given adequate space, including nutrient rich substrate, good light, and regular dose of iron fertilizer (either through root tabs or liquid fertilizers), Red Flame Sword has a potential to grow up to 12 inches. It can be kept in check by occasional trimming of roots and some of the tallest leaves. Sharp aquascaping scisorrs will make this job a breeze.
- Minimum Lighting Required: Moderate
- Temperature Range: 68-82°F
- Tank Placement: Background
Provided with these conditions, Red Flame Sword, like most other Sword plants, is hardy, adaptable, and one of the easiest plants to keep in the aquarium. Red Flame Sword should be planted in the background areas of the aquarium. Many fish, like discus or angelfish, will lay their eggs on the plant's leaves. Under good conditions, Sword plants will readily propagate by producing daughter plants on runners.
Red Flame Sword is also available bareroot. Other Sword varieties are available, including Amazon Sword, Rose Sword, Ozelot Sword, and many more.
