Java Fern Windelov, also referred to as Java Fern Lace, is a finely branched, small leaf variety of Java Fern.  It is highly attractive and will look great in any display.  All these qualities have contributed greatly to its popularity in the hobby and make this plant an ideal beginner aquarium plant.

Care & Maintenance for Java Fern

Java Fern is a highly is very versatile, adaptable, undemanding and will thrive in most aquariums. It grows even in low light environment and will tolerate a wide range of hardness and pH. The leaves of Java Fern contain a chemical that deters most herbivorous fish from eating it so the plant can withstand the unwanted attentions of most boisterous fish.

It propagates by adventitious plants on leaves and roots or it can be divided at the rhizome. Java Fern looks great when attached to driftwood, rocks and other aquarium decorations. The plant’s rhizome or the main root should never be buried in gravel or substrate. They look especially attractive when attached to rocks and driftwood in bunches.  

Java Fern is also available in other forms, including potted, Java Fern Pteropus, Narrow Leaf, Java Fern Trident, and as a mat.
