Hygrophila Angustifolia, commonly known as Hygro Willow, originates from Southeast Asia and can be found in India and Bangladesh. This attractive plant produces green lanceolate leaves on opposite sides of a long and sturdy stem.

Care & Maintenance

As Hygro Willow is easy to grow and care for, it is suitable for both beginners and experienced aquarists. The plant prefers moderate to high levels of light, and while the addition of CO2 fertilization is not necessary, it will promote faster growth. Hygro Willow can be planted in inert gravel but root tabs should be provided. Alternatively, plant it in a nutrient-rich substrate or provide liquid fertilization for the best results.

Hygro Willow is a versatile plant and can be utilized in various different ways in the aquarium. Generally, however, the plant is most suitable for the background areas of the aquarium as it usually grows tall under good conditions. If planted in groups of several plants, Hygro Willow will create the appearance of a lush green aquascape, providing hiding places for fish. Hygro Willow is excellent at absorbing nutrients from the water column, helping to maintain a proper balance of nutrients in the aquarium and preventing algae growth.
