Fluval Plant Spectrum 3.0 Lighting
Posted by Darlene on 3 Jun 2021I haven’t tried the Bluetooth yet but just plugging it in it looks so much nicer than the cheap lighting I had before. I got one for my new 40g tank as well and it lights up the entire tank, no dark spaces! Very much worth investing in. I’m excited to see how much faster the plants grow in my 20g that had the cheap lighting before.

I do have to say that Modern Aquarium ships fast The box arrived all beat up but the contents were not damaged, i will try to post another review after I have used the product for a few months

Posted by SCOTT BAXTER on 20 Apr 2021The Fluval light replaces a Marineland LED light and it's like swapping a blob of flaming feces on a stick with a lightsaber. The Marineland unit was highly regarded 10 years ago and worked quite well on my low tech 40 gallon tank, but the 40 gallon tank I now have is full blown managed C02 diffusion system and it craves light, which the Fluval brings in spades. The Marineland had at the time a novel built in timer for the white and blue lights, but now, I can drive my fish into panic attacks from my bed by playing with the light control on the iPhone. It's Bluetooth connected to the Fluval, and I have 4 channel light spectrum control with manual, automatic and a 'pro' (eh?) setting with complete control of on and off times, rampup/windown slopes, the works. This unit is sleek and minimalistic, with only a flush switch on it. All control is on the iPhone. It also runs dead cool. The Marineland unit was always rather warm, and it was a large unit with a ribbed aluminum housing to dissipate heat. No heat dissipation needed with the Fluval unit. This unit is actually better than the high end LED I used on a 90 gallon tank I had that I could not move (thus the 40 gallon at my new residence), particularly since the high end LED light ceased to be supported when the manufacturer figured out they could make more money selling marijuana lights than freshwater aquarium lights. The best light I've ever owned (until I write another review like this 10 years from now if I live that long).

Posted by Kelley Kirwan on 22 Mar 2021Nice light I wish it came in more sizes though, I have a 30 in long tank and my only choices were a 24 in light or a 36 in, the 36 would have been longer than the tank and the 24 doesnt light the ends of the tank to well but I still like it.

Posted by Mike on 1 Feb 2021Just received the light a couple days ago. I finally found a setting I’m going to try first for a couple weeks. I bought this for a heavily planted 75 gallon tank with Co2. The light is pretty bright at full strength and it’s nice to use pro mode and have a “sunrise” and “sunset” look. Although it took a little bit of playing with the app to get it down, the app could be better. I got the light relatively quick in a little less then a week. However, they shipped it in it’s original packaging, I wish they wouldn’t of.
