Description
Duckweed (Lemna Minor)
Lemna Minor, also known as duckweed aquatic plant, is a fast-growing, adaptable, hardy, and easy-going plant. Duckweed produces small and oval leaves measuring about 0.12 inches and we ship it in a 4 oz container or by pound. The light green leaves enhance the look of your tank as this clover-like botanical floats along your open-top aquarium. These floating pants produce root like structures that hang underneath the leaves.
In good conditions, you can expect your duckweed aquatic plant to spread quickly — a small amount can cover the surface of an average aquarium in one week. Each floating leaf, through the process called vegetative reproduction, will produce more floating leaves. Because of its fast growth, duckweed is great for all types of aquariums, especially those with a heavy biological load. The plant will absorb any excess nutrients from the water column to help keep your tank free of algae.
Many fish, and particularly Koi and goldfish, love to eat duckweed and others will appreciate the shade and cover it provides, making them feel secure.
Maintenance & Care for Duckweed Aquatic Plants
Your duckweed floating plant should be regularly thinned to remove excess material. Balance out the look of this plant with other floating plants like water lettuce or red root floater.
- Minimum Lighting Required: Low to Moderate
- Temperature Range: 41°F - 95°F
- Tank Placement: Floating
Due to the large temperature range in which duckweed aquatic plants thrive, you can use it in tanks with varied water conditions.

Leech
Duck weed was fine but mine came with a leech so just make sure to check your plants with gloves on or with caution

Duckweed
Overall fairly happy with my order! First time ordering live plants online. The plant itself is very healthy and in good condition! But! It did come with Scuds… Thankfully i put it into a tank with noting in it. Still, very happy and will be ordering again!

Duck weed
Duck weed is awesome for my pond. I have ravenous koi and I delve it out a bit at a time. I bought a pound and put most of it in a 9x13 pan with water. It lasts and lasts.

Love it or hate it, this stuff is awesome!
I added some of this to my 10gal with a betta and mystery snail. Having a problem with hair algae and this is my answer to help out. 4oz is way too much for a 10gal, but that’s ok. I’m very happy with my purchase. Plants came packed well, bright green, and didn’t smell as bad as I feared it might. If you’ve never worked with duckweed before you are in for a treat! And by “treat” I mean finding a humble compromise between your trying to control it and it defying your attempts to do so. It sticks to everything, your arms, tools, nets, and it will appear into other tanks if you have them, like magic. Do your best, it’ll still win. The sooner you get over it outsmarting you, the better. That way you can get to appreciate its power and what it brings to the table. Nitrite control, light control, algae control, nutrition, beauty. I highly recommend using some air tubing and suction cups to dam off areas for the fish to eat, breathe, and I dammed mine off around the bubble and filtered water return to prevent the filter getting clogged by duckweeds that got pushed underwater. Nice and easy and looks great!

Dash shipping, arrived alive and well. My fish liked it so much I just reordered 1/2 lb of it.

Beautiful and Lush!
Absolutely love the duckweed, they multiply so fast! But, not fast enough since the bettas keep eating them that I had to transfer them to a second tank so that I can keep up with the ravenous betta fish! They clearly love the duckweed! Very easy to grow, just plop in and the duckweed will go wild! :)

Heavy
Half a pound is a lot of duckweed. Very green. Good coverage. Roots already growing. Warning, this stuff is prolific and sticks to everything.

The best
I’ve purchased this many times. My goldfish cannot get enough of it. I love that I can order so much of it at a time

DUCKWEED (LEMNA MINOR)
Bought two 4 oz cups for a couple breeder tanks. i was surprised by the amount received. Both containers were filled with plants just as in the photo. i've had the duckweed a few weeks now, and it's made its way into all of my aquariums. This stuff seriously multiplies on a daily. This stuff is amazing at keep nitrite levels low. I'm harvesting the excess and using in the goldfish and koi ponds.

Duckweed
I ordered a pound of this and actually received a pound of plants, not water but actual duckweed. To make things even better it was very well packaged and healthy. I will definitely be buying from these guys again!
