Description
Aponogeton Ulvaceus
Aponogeton Ulvaceus originates from Sri Lanka and it is also commonly known as Compact Aponogeton. This plant produces unique wavy-edged or ruffled leaves that appear smooth and shiny. The appearance of the leaves will make the plant stand out in your aquarium. The leaves of the plant may vary in color from light bronze to olive-green to pale-yellow.
Care & Maintenance for Aponogeton Ulvaceus
In nature, Aponogetons are found in shallow areas that may become dry during some periods of the year. As a result, Aponogetons’ growth during the dry season is noticeably slower. In the aquarium, Aponogetons may grow very well for a number of months and then show very little, if any, growth. These cyclical growth patterns are normal and expected.

- Temperature Range: 70-82°F
- Tank Placement: Midground - Background
Aponogeton Ulvaceus will benefit greatly when planted in a nutrient-rich substrate. While the plant does not require strong light, Ulvaceus will grow faster and taller if grown under strong light. Good fertilization with either root tabs or liquid fertilizers is also recommended. Given time, the plant will produce many leaves and become a showpiece in the aquarium.

Amazing growth
Posted by Amanda on 30 Oct 2021I wish I could post a pic, but this came as a bulb the size of a quarter with no leaves. I put it in the tank, and in 2 weeks, it was 2 feet worth of beautiful curly fronds! It's completely amazing!! I want to order another just to watch it grow again! It's lovely in my 150 gal cichlid tank. So far they have left it alone, they tend to eat everything I put in. Wonderful plant!

Posted by Amber Prewitt on 27 Mar 2021I love this plant so far. I bought it for a 60 gallon tall aquarium, so it is 25 inches tall. I was looking for a plant to fill in the back corner that would be tall enough to reach the top. Originally I was a little dissapointed when it came as it was just the bulb, no real leaves or stems yet. However I planted it exactly 1 week ago in pool filter sand with root tabs, and it has already grown 4 leaves 8+ inches long. They are beautiful, and I am so excited to see this plant fill out. I did set up Co2 a few days ago, however I got that much growth with just the root tabs. I would warn anyone away that doesn't have a TALL aquarium or isn't looking for a canopy effect, I would say this plant grows too fast to just keep trimmed to a smaller size. I honestly wish I would have bought a second one for the other corner instead of an amazon sword.

Posted by Steven on 20 Feb 2021This plant is growing faster than I could ever imagine! It's absolutely huge! Got for a 29 gallon and it's very clear this plant is for bigger tanks lol. The leaves creates a canopy bc how long they are. My fish absolutely love laying on the leaves like a hammock. Easy to trim and grows back quickly with no CO2 or additional fertilizer. Only using fluval stratum and aquarium co-op root tabs. Very happy with this plant. Delivered healthy and extremely fast even with 20 degree weather and covid issues with shipping companies. Impressive.

Posted by Ckc on 12 Jan 2021When I received my plants they came in a stapled baggy wrapped in one sheet of tissue paper. So naturally a lot of stems broke. I was disappointed in that but the Aponogeton grows so rapidly it doesn’t matter! They are already getting shoots and are 12 inches tall after 1 week! Also definitely treat them if you don’t want snails because there were at least 20 snails in the plants that I noticed. All in all I am obsessed with this plant and you will not be disappointed!
